Lyrics to New, Original Songs on "All I Really Want for Christmas"
by Steven Curtis Chapman (2005 Sparrow Records, EMI CMG)
Steven Curtis Chapman put out a nice
Christmas album in 2005, "All I Really Want for Christmas"
which had three new originals:
Track #4 : All I Really Want
Track #5 : The Miracle of Christmas
Track #13 : The Night Before Christmas
It also includes a remake of his song "Christmas is All in the Heart"
(Track #7) which
he performs with Vince Gill, which is my favorite from his first Christmas
album, so I added that one too. The other, traditional Christmas songs
on the album are:
Track #2 : Angels From the Realms of Glory
Track #3 : I Heard The Bells on Christmas Day
Track #6 : Go Tell In On The Mountain
Track #8 : Silver Bells
Track #9 : Winter Wonderland
Track #10 : God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
Track #11 : It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
Track #12 : O Little Town of Bethlehem
4. All I Really Want
Well, I don't know if you remember me or not
I'm one of the kids they brought in from the home
I was the red-haired boy in an old, green flannel shirt
You may not have seen me, I was standing off alone
I didn't come and talk to you 'cause that's never worked before
And you'll probably never see this letter, anyway
But just in case there's something you can do to help me out
I'll ask you one more time
All I really want for Christmas is someone to tuck me in
A shoulder to cry on if I lose, shoulders to ride on if I win
There's so much I could ask for, but there's just one thing I need
All I really want for Christmas is a family
Well, I guess I should go ahead and tell you now
If it's really true about that list you have
Somehow I always seem to end up in a fight
But I'm really trying hard not to be bad
But maybe if I had a brother or a dad to wrestle with
Maybe they could teach me how to get along
And from everything I've heard, it sounds like the greatest gift on earth
Would be a mom
All I want for Christmas is someone who'll be here
To sing me happy birthday for the next 100 years
And It's okay if they're not perfect or even if they're a little broken
That's alright, 'Cause so am I
Well, I guess I should go, it's almost time for bed
Maybe next time I write you I'll be at home
`Cause all I really want for Christmas is someone to tuck me in
Tell me I'll never be alone, someone whose love will never end
Of all that I could ask for, well, there's just one thing I need
All I really want for Christmas is a family
5. Miracle of Christmas
A child is born tonight in Bethlehem
His mother holds him close and sings a sweet lullaby
All the world is sleeping unaware that God himself has come in the night
The shepherds tremble as the angels sing
And in their song the voice of God speaks peace to the world
A miracle has happened, God has come and God has spoken
But the miracle has only just begun
And the God who spoke is speaking still
And the God who came still comes
And the miracle that happened still happens in the heart that will believe
And we see (receive) the miracle of Christmas
So come to Bethlehem again and see
The One who's come to rescue us, our Saviour and King
Bring your past, the joy, the sorrow, all your hope to find tomorrow
And hear the words again, fear not and know that God is near
For the God who spoke is speaking still
And the God who came still comes
And the miracle that happened still happens in the heart that will believe
And receive the miracle of Christmas
Believe the miracle of Christmas
Will you believe?
7. Christmas Is All In The Heart
In a one bedroom apartment on the humble side of town
There stands a little Christmas tree, it looks a lot like Charlie Brown's,
And underneath there's one little gift for him and one little gift for her
After six months on the new job, they're still barely getting by
So in the way of decorations, there's nothing there to catch your eye
But both of them would be the first to say
We're together, we're gonna have the merriest Christmas anyway
'Cause Christmas is all in the heart, that's where the feeling starts,
And like a fire inside, it touches every part,
Christmas is all in the heart,
And even if no white snow falls, that's all right because
The joy can still be found, wherever you are,
Christmas is all, all in the heart
Two little blonde haired boys with big dreams,
Tried to sleep but sleep wouldn't come
We'd be tearing into presents, long before the break of dawn,
With Mom and Dad and cameras making sure we'd never forget that day
Now I'm the one who's taking pictures, in the middle of the night,
Of my own little dreamers that just can't wait until daylight,
And in my sleepy eyes the spark still glows
Well I guess there's just some things a kid never outgrows.
'Cause Christmas is all in the heart, that's where the feeling starts,
And like a fire inside, it touches every part,
Christmas is all in the heart,
And even if no white snow falls, that's okay because
The joy can still be found, wherever you are
Christmas is all, all in the heart
No, it's not in the snow that may or may not fall,
And it's not in the gifts beneath the tree
It's in the love heaven gave, that night our Savior came,
That same love can still be found wherever you are,
'Cause Christmas is all in the heart
And the joy can still be found, wherever you are
Christmas is all, all in the heart
It's all in the heart
13. The Night Before Christmas
It was the night before Christmas and all through the world
Everything looked like business as usual
Shepherds sat on a hillside looking up at the stars
While the world fell asleep unware just how deep
Was the darkness the night before Christmas
And the night before Christmas it seemed to be just a night
But the wind blew like something was coming
And like children with secrets that they're bursting to tell
The cedars danced in the breeze while all of nature it seemed
Held its breath on the night before Christmas
And hope, hope long awaited
The hope of the ages
Would break with the dawn
And the song that all of creation was anticipating
Would start with a baby's first cry
And on the night before Christmas Mary laid down to rest
While Joseph, he paced the floor praying
And in an everyday stable, in an everyday town
In the hours to come
God would wrap Himself up
And come down from heaven
and the world would forever be changed
After the night before Christmas
