(sheep look surprised; Mary smiles)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_80\" class=\"\"><strong>Sheep #3:<\/strong> Who was its daddy?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_82\" class=\"\"><strong>Narrator:<\/strong> It was a baby boy and God was its daddy. But Joseph took Mary as his wife and helped her to take care of the baby. (Joseph steps onto the stage and stands by Mary, smiling.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_84\" class=\"\"><strong>Sheep #4:<\/strong> What did they name Him?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_86\" class=\"\"><strong>Narrator:<\/strong> An angel told them to name Him Jesus. (Angel #1 steps onto stage and waves at the sheep.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_88\" class=\"\"><strong>Sheep #5:<\/strong> Why did God send this special baby?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_90\" class=\"\"><strong>Narrator:<\/strong> God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_92\" class=\"\"><strong>Sheep #6:<\/strong> Where was the baby Jesus born?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_94\" class=\"\"><strong>Narrator:<\/strong> Mary and Joseph had to travel to Bethlehem and they couldn\u2019t find a hotel, so they stayed in a stable. Jesus was born there and they used a feed trough, also called a manger, as His bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_96\" class=\"\">(<em>Mary and Joseph go to the manger scene in the corner and sit around the manger in which there is a baby Jesus. Angel leaves the stage. Ram takes black sheep to the choir loft, puts on a black shirt and head cover. <\/em>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_98\" class=\"\"><strong>Sheep #2<\/strong>: Hey, we\u2019re Rams. Let\u2019s play football!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_100\" class=\"\"><em>(Remaining sheep split into two huddles. Then they do a simple football play. Then black sheep and Ram return to stage and scene 2 begins.)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_104\" class=\"\"><em><strong>Scene 2<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_106\" class=\"\"><strong>Mic holder: Shepherd #2, then Angel #1, then Sheep #1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_108\" class=\"\"><em>(Sheep move to one side of the stage. Shepherds come to the other side of the stage, facing the sheep.)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_110\" class=\"\"><strong>Shepherds sing to the sheep:<\/strong> Baa, baa black sheep, have you any wool?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_112\" class=\"\"><strong>Sheep respond:<\/strong> Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full. One for my master, one for my dame, and one for the little boy who lives in Bethlehame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_114\" class=\"\"><strong>Narrator:<\/strong> No, no, no! That\u2019s not how the shepherds fit into the story!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_116\" class=\"\"><em>(Shepherds and sheep look surprised. Shepherds put their fists on their hips and look confused.)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_118\" class=\"\"><strong>Shepherd #1<\/strong>: I thought that maybe the shepherds used their sheep wool to make a blanket for the baby Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_120\" class=\"\"><strong>Narrator:<\/strong> Maybe, but they played a much bigger role than that. (Shepherds stand up straighter and look proud.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_122\" class=\"\"><strong>Shepherd #2:<\/strong> Did we fight the lions that were going to attack the baby Jesus? (brandishing his shepherd\u2019s staff)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_124\" class=\"\"><strong>Narrator:<\/strong> No, but you did have to be brave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_126\" class=\"\"><strong>Shepherd #3:<\/strong> We\u2019re not afraid of anything!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_128\" class=\"\"><em>(Angels come on stage and shepherds cower. Shepherds move to the side with their sheep to protect them while cowering<\/em>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_130\" class=\"\"><strong>Angel #1 (Gabrielle):<\/strong> Don\u2019t be afraid! I bring you good news that will bring joy to all people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_132\" class=\"\"><strong>Angel #2:<\/strong> The Savior \u2013 yes, the Messiah, the Lord \u2013 has been born today in Bethlehem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_134\" class=\"\"><strong>Angel #3:<\/strong> You will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_136\" class=\"\"><strong>Angel #4:<\/strong> Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_138\" class=\"\"><em>Everyone on stage except the shepherds sing to the shepherds \u201cGo Tell It on the Mountain,\u201d UMH 251 (all 3 verses).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_142\" class=\"\">Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_144\" class=\"\">Go, tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_148\" class=\"\">While shepherds kept their watching o\u2019er silent flocks by night,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_150\" class=\"\">Behold throughout the heavens there shown a holy light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_154\" class=\"\">Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_156\" class=\"\">Go, tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_160\" class=\"\">The shepherds feared and trembled, when lo! Above the earth,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_162\" class=\"\">Rang out the angel chorus that hailed the Savior\u2019s birth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_166\" class=\"\">Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_168\" class=\"\">Go, tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_172\" class=\"\">Down in a lowly manger the humble Christ was born,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_174\" class=\"\">And God sent us salvation that blessed Christmas morn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_178\" class=\"\">Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_180\" class=\"\">Go, tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_184\" class=\"\"><em>(Angels exit the stage.)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_188\" class=\"\"><strong>Shepherd #3:<\/strong> Let\u2019s go and find the baby Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_190\" class=\"\"><em>(Shepherds walk to the manger scene, herding their sheep along as they go.)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_192\" class=\"\"><strong>Sheep #1:<\/strong> Hey, wait a minute. What did WE do?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_194\" class=\"\"><strong>Narrator:<\/strong> Hmm. I\u2019m sure you must have done something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_196\" class=\"\">(Everyone on stage sings verse 1 of UMH 227 \u201cThe Friendly Beasts.\u201d Then Sheep #1 sings verse 4 as a solo.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_200\" class=\"\">Jesus, our brother, strong and good,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_202\" class=\"\">was humbly born in a stable rude,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_204\" class=\"\">And the friendly beasts around him stood,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_206\" class=\"\">Jesus, our brother, strong and good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_210\" class=\"\">\u201cI,\u201d said the sheep with curly horn,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_212\" class=\"\">\u201cI gave him my wool for his blanket warm,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_214\" class=\"\">He wore my coat on Christmas morn;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_216\" class=\"\">I,\u201d said the sheep with curly horn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_220\" class=\"\"><em>(Shepherds, herding their sheep, go to the corner to admire the baby Jesus, then walk to their seats in the pew while the refrain of \u201cGo Tell It on the Mountain\u201d is played once more as an instrumental piece.)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_224\" class=\"\"><em><strong>Scene 3<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_226\" class=\"\"><strong>Mic holder: Old King Cole<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_228\" class=\"\"><em>(Mary, Joseph, and the narrator remain on stage, but everyone else should be off. King Herod is sitting on his throne on stage.)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_230\" class=\"\"><em>3 magi dance onto stage while a drum beats the rhythm for \u201cOld King Cole.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_232\" class=\"\"><strong>3 magi recite together:<\/strong> Old King Cole was a merry old soul, and a merry old soul was he. He called for his pipe and he called for his bowl and he called for his fiddlers three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_234\" class=\"\"><strong>Narrator:<\/strong> Old King Cole might have been a merry old soul, but King Herod was not!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_236\" class=\"\"><em>(Magi look surprised. Herod grins evilly.)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_238\" class=\"\"><strong>King Herod sings a solo (pompously):<\/strong> Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are. Up above the world so high, like a diamond in the sky, twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_240\" class=\"\"><strong>King Herod:<\/strong> Who have we here?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_242\" class=\"\"><strong>Magi #1:<\/strong> Greetings, Your Majesty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_244\" class=\"\"><strong>Magi #2:<\/strong> We are 3 wise men from far lands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_246\" class=\"\"><strong>Magi #3:<\/strong> We are following the star to see the King of the Jews who has been born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_248\" class=\"\"><strong>King Herod (winking or wiggling his eyebrows):<\/strong> I\u2019d like to see Him too. When you find Him, let me know where He is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_250\" class=\"\"><strong>Narrator:<\/strong> The magi found the baby Jesus and gave Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Then they returned to their homes by another route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_252\" class=\"\"><em>(3 magi take their gifts to the manger scene and one at a time kneel down and present their gifts. Then they look over at Herod and sneak off the opposite side of the stage. After that, Herod leaves by the side steps.)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_256\" class=\"\"><em><strong>Scene 4<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_258\" class=\"\"><strong>Mic holder: Mary<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_260\" class=\"\"><em>(Narrator walks over to the manger scene.)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_262\" class=\"\"><strong>Narrator: <\/strong>What a cute baby! (Mary and Joseph smile.) Koochie-koochie-koo. (Narrator tickles Jesus under the chin.) May I hold Him?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_264\" class=\"\">(<em>Mary hands baby Jesus to the narrator who rocks Him in his\/her arms while Mary sings \u201cRock-a-bye Baby\u201d and Joseph gently shakes his head \u201cno\u201d during the song.)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_266\" class=\"\">Rock-a-bye baby, in the treetop<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_268\" class=\"\">When the wind blows, the cradle will rock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_270\" class=\"\">When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_272\" class=\"\">And down will come baby, cradle and all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_276\" class=\"\"><strong>Joseph:<\/strong> That\u2019s not how it goes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_278\" class=\"\"><em>(He motions the rest of the cast to join him on stage.) Help me out here. (Entire cast comes onto the stage, near the manger scene, but facing the audience. Herod lags behind, then looks at the audience, shrugs, and joins the rest of the cast on stage.) All sing first 2 verses of \u201cAway in a Manger,\u201d UMH 217.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_282\" class=\"\">Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_284\" class=\"\">The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_286\" class=\"\">The stars in the sky looked down where he lay,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_288\" class=\"\">The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_292\" class=\"\">The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_294\" class=\"\">But little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_296\" class=\"\">I love thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_298\" class=\"\">And stay by my cradle till morning is nigh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_302\" class=\"\"><strong>Narrator:<\/strong> (<em>addressing audience<\/em>) Please join us in singing \u201cSilent Night\u201d (UMH 239) together. If you have brought a baby gift, you may bring it up to the communion rail during the song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_304\" class=\"\"><em>Sing 4 verses of \u201cSilent Night.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_308\" class=\"\">Silent Night, holy night, all is calm, all is bright<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_310\" class=\"\">Round yon virgin mother and child. Holy infant, so tender and mild,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_312\" class=\"\">Sleep in heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_316\" class=\"\">Silent night, holy night, shepherds quake at the sight;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_318\" class=\"\">Glories stream from heaven afar, heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_320\" class=\"\">Christ the Savior is born, Christ the Savior is born!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_324\" class=\"\">Silent night, holy night, Son of God, love\u2019s pure light;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_326\" class=\"\">Radiant beams from thy holy face with the dawn of redeeming grace,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_328\" class=\"\">Jesus, Lord, at thy birth, Jesus, Lord at thy birth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_332\" class=\"\">Silent night, holy night, wondrous star, lend thy light;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_334\" class=\"\">With the angels let us sing, Alleluia to our King;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_336\" class=\"\">Christ the Savior is born, Christ the Savior is born!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_338\" class=\"\"><em>Children bow for applause. Afterward, actors stand in place while director thanks everyone and invites everyone to Fellowship Hall for Jesus\u2019 birthday cake.
